LURKING WITHIN THE SHADOWS OF A BLACKENED ANGEL'S WINGSPAN

“Because of you,” an alluring voice of tranquility rang out, the sound of inhalation following such words of a malevolent incubus, “—my nap had to be interrupted, you filthy, selfish bitch...” Nonchalantly blowing out a ghastly cloud of smothering smoke, the brooding figure looked down at his pathetic martyr who struggled ever so desperately in his brute tenor, her chest pumping up and down feverishly as fear and pain rode through her thin, disgusting veins. This shrewish woman's claws dug deeply into his skin of alabaster, her razored nails effortlessly cutting through his human-like flesh. Crimson slowly oozed out from the deep lacerations, gently easing down his arm that had been wrapped around the woman's neck. Albeit, this hair-raising sight of such infliction of pain did not seem to bother the demon; he just stared up at the dark sky, inhaling once more. Though, time was wasting, and he was becoming rather bored fairly quickly. Casually glancing down at the bloodied harpy within his armlock, the demon took one last puff of his cigarette before lodging the burning bud into the harpy's right eye, her horrendous screams impaling the silent night's air. The woman's body writhed like a lurid beast within his hold, her legs flailing in a disturbing manner beneath her; his grip tightened around her neck. Though, shortly vexed by such a loud cry, the disgrace snapped her neck in the sputter of a millisecond, the grueling symphony of bones snapping all at once floating deliciously to his sensitive ears. The flailing came to an abrupt halt, her hands falling limp at her side, and her legs bending inward in a irksome manner. Tossing the corpse aside with simplicity, the loud thump of her body smacked off of the walls, its sound waves bursting into the ears of her fellow injured mates. The beautiful scent of rust infiltrated the swallowing air, intoxicating the blood-thirsted mind of this incubus; ah, such a beautiful sight it was! The poor, futile harpies wailed in agonizing pain; two were wingless, their large wings of shrouding black scattered about. Deep holes had been seen amongst their backs, the immeasurably dark blood—almost the pigment of black—pouring profusely out of the gaping chasms where their wings had once connected to their being. It had been like tearing out the roots of a vegetable out of a ground... One harpy had her legs snapped inward where her knee caps had been, looking abnormally mutated and rather ugly. Her mouth had been torn open, but not a single trace of a scream pursed the air; the pain was too harrowing for her to utter a single note. The others, well...their bodies were...demolished, their horrid whimpers coughing up such misery. “Fucking winged-bastards, ruining my nap... It's very rare—“ the demon began to shout, his tone rather sardonic, “—that I get to take a fucking nap. And then I get a call saying you mishaps were causing terror? Hmph,” he scoffed, grinning devilishly at his work of art, art that had been created through the hands of a painful and misfortunate soul. “But, I guess I can subdue your pain...” he trailed off with a mocking tone of sympathy, leisurely strolling over to the closest harpy and kneeling down before her. Her cries were cut off by pants. Pulling out his pistol from the gun holster that had been loosely wrapped around his waist, he placed the cold metal against her head, grinning. “Bah!” he whispered in a taunting manner, pulling the trigger. From the sound of the gun, the other injured harpies began to panic, struggling to crawl away from such a breathing nightmare. Noting this from the corner of his eye, Nero began to chuckle darkly. “And where the hell do you think you're going?” he asked out loud, abnormally standing to his feet in a fluid motion, walking towards the other three. “P-puh-lease,” one croaked in a sad plea, the gurgling of thick, drenching blood clogging her throat. Nero rolled his paralyzing eyes of ice, the gray and blue pigments sparking with amusement. Twirling his gun in his hand, he cocked it down towards her and shot her, as well as the other two shortly after. “...Don't waste your breath. You were lucky enough to have caught me on a good day…” he lightly joked in a temperate tone of satin, shrugging as he spoke to the rotten corpse.

The moon's cries of light caught glimpse of the demon, his bare back of toned muscles sheltering his eyes from such a luminous glow. Twisting his body now, the man put his gun back in the holster flanking his hip's side, and he pushed out a low grunt. “Made a mess...” Now in the broad light of the street light ahead, the unknown hellion's appearance was fully exhibited to the naked eye, lazily strolling out of the ally without a care of the disturbing sight he had left behind; the O.A.P.D. Team would shortly arrive to clean up after him. Always do. A greek god, as he had been described before by the very few who had seen him without any clothing article on to hide such beautiful work. A long torso lathered with the smooth skin of porcelain, strong and flawless; not a scar licked the vast torso. Every muscle had been visible, etched out carefully and defiantly with impeccable tone. Rather fit, though the demon took little notice of the naturally flawless physique, his long legs constructing distancing strides along the sidewalk. Wearing nothing but his black jeans and mid-calf boots of dusted brown, he looked like a typical misanthrope who was up to no good; the loose holster around his hip catching the eyes of many. Having so that his pants had been low around his waist, his lower abs met his hip flexors more visibly, the v-shaped toned muscle quite exposed; happens when one lazily and tiredly throws on a pair of pants to annihilate a flocking pack of harpies. A look of blasé tainted his face, eyes lazily staring about before him. An aesthetic monstrosity now strolled amongst the lively streets of the active city, many by passers stopping to stare at the man with the celestial looks of chastity and pulverizing enchantment. The color of dull cobalt scraped the irises of this morbid being, heavily with the shovel of grueling animosity as he felt sore stares bore into his exposed back. Abhorrence outlined his ebony pupils, the wispy fingers of cruelty holding himself hostage from within. Standing at the peak of six foot six, the lanky young man towered his by passes with pitiful simplicity, his basilisk-like arm open to the naked eye; though, he could care less. He was already listed, and he was brought here purposely for his arm...so he could honestly give a shit. Let them stare if they wished; the demonic features consumed his whole arm, swimming up to his shoulder and breaking out into what looked like black roots digging into his skin, softly disappearing under the pale complexion he wielded. With both hands in his pocket, shoulders back and standing tall, he perfumed the aroma of a formidable one, many steering clear out of the monster's way. Lucky for him, he was used to such a reaction. “Humans, they amuse me to no end....” Nero Angelo muttered beneath his breath. He saw a black, undercover Camaro slowly crawl past him just then, a soft nod bobbing from his head. Dante was ready to clean up the young male's mess back in the ally. Luckily, no one had bothered to walk down the black abyss. If they had, they would have stumbled upon quite a bundle of joy...

LIFE'S A LIE.This was the city that Noir grew up in. Filled with so many different species: from humans to supernatural creatures known to man. She was surrounded by them everywhere she went. Hardly, there wasn't one place that only held humans; that was rather rare. With that being said, Noir was a human; flesh and blood. Her life began twenty one years ago. In this big city she was born to two loving parents, but lost them much too quickly. She survived with her elder brother, Jacques, who helped them survive for a good handful of years until they were taken into an orphanage. Luckily, they were soon taken under their grandmother's wing, yet departed from her after her death and until each one was old enough to start their real lives. Noir and Jacques lost contact with each other, but they both knew they would never be missed.

Now in this time present, Noir currently resided in the city; only a few blocks from where she was wandering off. Approximately, eight to ten blocks away. She was turning into a corner when she heard sirens blasting from just up ahead. It was normal for such up bringing, so she paid no mind to it. Noir continued on her path, smiling and greeting those she passed. However, as she turned right into another corner someone had been caught from the corner of her eye. He was right at the other side of the street. No, it wasn't the fact that he looked rather charming, but the fact that he had blood stained down his arms and hand. Noir turned to his direction, and froze. It wasn't the first time she had seen someone with blooded hands, but she was in sure panic that maybe she could be targeted next. Humans were easy target for those who were of different species. She clenched her jaws, and blinked numerously until she finally took a deep and heavy breath. She shook her head as if coming out from a trance. Noir did not particularly care about what others did or had been doing, but she did care about her life. She knew that humans weren't the only beings who walked the earth, but it was her first time ever seeing someone in broad daylight with hands drenched in blood. The lingering scent of fresh blood entered her nostrils, and it began to upset her stomach, but she ignored it anyway. She looked away quickly hoping that her presence wasn't seen; there were a good few of people surrounding them, so she was hoping he hadn't caught her staring. Noir wrinkled her nose and shifted it from side to side; biting her inner left lip. She cracked a smile; only to hide and pretend as if she hadn't noticed.

LURKING WITHIN THE SHADOWS OF A BLACKENED ANGEL'S WINGSPAN

Hey, kid! an all too familiar voice cooly hollered from behind the demon, Nero cocking his to the right in order to crack it out of sheer vexation. “For fuck's sake...” he grunted under his breath, his eyes narrowing slightly in ignorance. Stopping dead in his tracks, the tall, snowy-haired man shifted about one-hundred eighty degrees, standing sideways to the man who had vociferated out. Arching a brow at Dante, Nero rose the corner of his top lip in a snarling manner, shaking his head slightly. “The fuck do you want?” he barked over the commotion of people doing their own thing, Dante finally catching up. Pulling out a fancy handkerchief, Red-Coat here threw it at the kid, the demonic hand of the incubus snapping outward to catch it swiftly. “Someone looks like shit. Didn't get any sleep or something?” the cop commented in a jabbing manner, Nero scowling at the man. A boisterous chuckle boomed from him just then, amused by the kid's reaction. “Anyways. Be more neat next time, will 'ya? You're going to attract attention,” Dante chastised playfully, grinning at the sight of Nero's tainted arms. Looking at the handkerchief, a low growl rumbled in the throat of the twenty year old out of pure annoyance. “What a drag...” he muttered, swiping away the blood with smooth strokes; the cloth was now stained by the hue of deep crimson. “Glad 'ya killed the harpies, kid. But—“But what?” Nero curtly interjected, his tone rather blunt and uninterested. But you need to learn to be less messy, shit head. You'll freak the citizens out,” Dante snapped hastily, finally quitting his playful attitude. “Look,” the demon began, twisting his body now fully towards the red-coated man and taking a few steps closer to him; the man had about a few centimeters on the demon. “You guys asked me to do your dirty work. So here I am, doing as you asked. Let me do it my way, I'm doing you all a fucking favor, remember?” he barked fairly lowly, Dante's jaw clenching. The walking sin's eyes of pale glaciers abruptly swiveled to the corner of his eyes now, having picked up the aura of a timid one. “Caught someone's eye,” he grinned sardonically, Dante huffing out of disgust. “See what I mean? Take it easy next time. Chew your food, kid. Don't play with it,” he commented, Nero's eyes gandering back to his chief. “Sure, sure,” Nero pushed with nonchalance, handing him the handkerchief back. “Cleanup's almost done, though. So I'm going to head back. Take it easy, and good job.” With that, the man mocked Nero's exact grin and turned around, his body being swallowed up by the traveling beings who paced about.

“...Don't call me kid,” Nero growled ever so quietly, pulling out another cigarette from his pocket and twirling a lighter in between his ghastly glowing fingers of the Devil Bringer, finally pinching it between his thumb and pointer finger. Swiftly running his thumb against the spark wheel, a long, wispy flame flickered wildly in the cold air. Holding it up to the dry cancer stick, it bit onto the end and segued rapidly onto the thin paper, igniting the farthest end from the sin's porcelain lips of granite. Shoving the lighter back into his pocket, Nero inhaled deeply, his cheeks sucking inward and dipping beneath his high cheeks bones, giving the man more definition to his facial features. Lifting his human-like hand, he pinched the bud and pulled it out, slowly blowing out the cloud of smoke; a woman who had walked by just then made a look of disgust and swatted her hand, Nero raising his lip at her futile self. Placing the cigarette between his soft lips, the charming hellion glanced back to the girl and shoved both of his hands into his pockets, dipping his upper body back by a smidgen, causing his torso to extend and look much more lankier. Was she worth his time? Of course not. No one was. Well, except his chief and partner, Trever Valens. But she? Inhaling deeply through his nose, his sense ventured passed all the beings surrounding him, directly picking up her scent that wavered within the air as she scurried away. Fresh blood. The girl was a rotten human. Immediately Nero looked down and shook his head, trying to rid the stinging smell that clung to the insides of his nostrils. Fucking humans, such a waste they were in this world! They were worthless, pathetic and utterly defenseless. “Goddamn,” Nero choked out due to the putrid scent, picking up his foot suddenly and starting his travel again. Indeed he had been around humans all his life, but her specific essence strangely grazed his chaotic senses. As a matter of fat, the unknown reason to why it had was beginning to irk the demon. Why the fuck her? What was so different? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Right? She was just a human, an ordinary, bland human who was futile. But what was so different? Immeasurably irritated now, the young man bit the end of the cigarette that had been in his mouth, tampering with it upon his lips as he contemplated whether to follow her or not. What if she had been a different species, just hidden by lathering the scent of a human amongst her? It was possible...but if that was the reason, why had she? Blowing out some smoke through his parted lips, the man took a step off of the sidewalk and disappeared, a few slivers of black smoke swirling up into the air like dying embers of a wasted fire. Suddenly appearing behind her—approximately six feet behind—he nonchalantly strolled with the others surrounding him, effortlessly blending into the crowd. His eyes grew dark as he observed her, trying to grasp as much recon as he could; he needed something, anything to tip the vase over and reveal this woman's true identity.

LIFE'S A LIE. This crowded and busy city had a lot of things going on in just one time. The city was rather small compared to the others, but it had its share. Crimes were just ordinary everyday things, nothing too alarming. People didn't seem to mind it; plus the city had all these different species, so it was't really such a big deal. It probably was never like that to begin with, but over time like everything else, it changed. Now this particular place was swarming with all sorts of people, and to Noir she didn't particularly have any say in it. People were their own with beliefs and views, and that Noir understood. Ever since she was born, she always saw the city as a big playground; her playground. She's bumped into some strange people; some were just the strangest beings she had ever met. However judging them was out of the question. She never judged a being by their appearance or specie. Always caring about others first before her very own. One time, she ran into a demon. He was quiet rude, but she paid no mind to it; luckily her brother had dragged her away in the nick of time before the demons claws had reached her neck. However, just because of one demon almost snapping her neck, she didn't think that all of them were the same as the one she had long ago met. As stupid as it may seem, Noir was a little bit too nice. Nice, but never innocent.

Standing there, Noir hadn't noticed that she was in the middle of the sidewalk. People almost ran into her. Some did since they weren't paying any attention either. Half of them furred their brows and gave her an evil look, but she simply ignored it. Noir looked back at the man whose hands were drenched in blood. She saw a cop who seemed to had stopped him and exchanged a few words here and there. She noticed that the cop hadn't done anything, so she figured they were close. Hmmm. Escaped her lips as she looked a way for a brief moment. However, when she looked back to see the man he had suddenly disappeared. She looked from side to side; tip toeing to see if he had really disappeared. She found no sight of him. Noir raised the right corner of her lip. She was rather disappointed since she wanted to know a little more, but then again maybe it was for the best. She really didn't want to lose her life yet; she was still so very young. Unlike all these supernatural creatures lurking about; they were rather old. Some were older than God himself, but they had that ability to stop ageing at a certain age. She kind of despised them for that because she wished the could have that ability. Noir didn't particularly like that she was a human. She knew that humans were at the top of the food chain, even thought there were far more humans than any other specie. Humans to other races were considered weak, and she believed it. They were weak no doubt about that. Humans couldn't protect themselves unless they had a weapon; especially to those who could rip their heads off with just a snap. Sometimes Noir wished she was born into a different race, but God had not given her that, so she had to accept it. Noir looked around once again to see if she could spot the guy once more, but to her dismay she couldn't. However, she hadn't noticed that he was just a few good feet away behind her, so she kept searching.

LURKING WITHIN THE SHADOWS OF A BLACKENED ANGEL'S WINGSPAN

Lurking beneath the shadow of a blackened angel's wingspan remained the cruel demon, his acidic eyes locked on her putrid being. Judging by how frantically her eyes had shot around, he assumed that she had been searching for his being. Why would a human be looking for me? he internally questioned, a chaotic swarm of buzzing thoughts bursting into his mind just then; why had she? Torpidly blowing out another boggling cloud of smoke, the walking sin leisurely sidestepped those who stood in his way, his long being easily dodging the citizens of Omoi Ame. He appeared to effortlessly tower these ladies and gents, a possible way to give up his stealth; but, he could care less. She'd find out sooner or later that he had been trailing her. This woman's scent snaked through these citizens, leading him through like a loyal guard dog. The stench was horrid, but he carried on anyways. The girl had been dead in her tracks, open to the naked eye for those who wished to end her life. An easy victim she had been for this demon of disgrace, his sculpted body cautiously and cooly crossing towards her.

Suddenly, a hand slithered out from one's side and snapped forward, tightly grasping onto the woman's arm. Just then, she was swung back in such a swift motion, unnoticed to any who had been surrounding the innocent woman. In the dark alley that she had been standing beside, she had been swallowed by the darkness, hidden from the world now. She was curtly shoved against the rotting bricks of the building, her back smacking forcefully against the stone. A basilisk-like arm then was placed in view, the claw-like hand of this demon being placed against the wall beside her face, his fingers glowing a luminous blue hue. Though he had his chin tilted upward slightly, his pulverizing eyes of ice stared down at her, the pose such an intimidating one. Demons always looked down upon humans. His free hand—the human-like one—had been shoved into his left pocket, allowing her the opportunity to flee if she really dared to. His eyes held no interest within, only sparks of curiosity igniting the true, pale color of this incubus's irises. "Why the search? Haven't you ever heard of minding your own business?" the demon pinned, his voice of satin collected and tranquil. Nero knew how she had been watching he and Dante converse earlier, it had been clear as day. If she had been suspicious in any manner, she could report it and have Dante's ass in trouble for illegally recruiting Nero after his horrid crime. One would have suspected his breath to reek of smoke, due to obviously smoking a cigarette, but no. Instead, it had smelt of cold mint and rich satin, blowing a stream of smoke into her face just to disgust her.

LIFE'S A LIE. Still searching, she couldn't track him down anywhere. She sighed heavily and moved on, but stood on her place with arms hanging down her side. She looked down at the ground biting her lower lip. Maybe it was better for her not to see him again; he would probably just snap her neck like what most all of the beings wanted to do to humans. She shivered at the thought, but she wanted to know more. But what more could she possible need? Probably just her random babbling of questions. She was the curious type, and more or less, she wouldn't stop until she found out what she wanted to know. It killed her that she had let him disappear from her view. Then again, maybe there was a reason for for that.

Noir was the kind of person who wanted to know things if she found something off or if it needed questioning. If she doesn't figure things out it will more likely stick to her to no end; taunting her until she goes on a crazed frenzy. A few years ago, probably when she was around eighteen; she ran into a man. Yup, a man; somehow all she ever ran into were men ever since her breast fully developed at a young age. Any who, when she bumped into that man, he started to question her, and like the goody person Noir was, she gladly told the truth. However, when it came time for Noir to ask the questions and the man to do the talking, he simply smiled at her and told her only a few things of what she had asked for. That bugged her, and it almost cost the guy his life, but she let it go.

Now Noir isn't really the type of gal who threw punches at people, but her punches can leave a sting. She did grow up with an elder brother. What she basically knows are self defense and a few attacks here and there; enough for her "enemy" to go crawling back to where they came from. However, Noir didn't particularly know anything else other than the basics, so in that stereotypical definition of humans, she was one of them. She doesn't like it; don't get her wrong, but what can she really do about it? She only had a brother, not a father or a mother who could tell her what life was about and what she had to look forward to and what never to do. No, she never had that; Noir simply learnt it on her own. She's still a growing lady , so she's still pretty much learning the ropes.

Suddenly, Noir felt an hand on her arm; someone had grabbed her. A panic washed upon her pretty face; almost looking as if she was ghost like. Her body tensed, and she froze. However, before she could turn to face the stranger, she was pulled into the alley. Swallowed into the darkness with only a barely visible light which flickered and almost at its end. Her heart beated fast. She couldn't make or see the man's face; her eyes were closed. Too shock to open them; to scared to do so. Noir was shoved against the brick wall; the coolness of the bricks felt like ice upon her porcelain skin as it made contact. She made an attempt to open her eyes; hoping to unmask the strangers identity. To her shock, it was the man who she had laid her eyes on just a few minutes ago. How could he be so stealthy; and what did she do to deserve what she think would happen next? She didn't know the answer, but somehow in her gut he had noticed her staring. The smell of smoke lingered from his mouth as he spoke, but to her surprise it smelt rather minty. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." Noir's words trembled as she spoke. She lifted her arms and began to push him aside, but she couldn't get the momentum to do it. No tears fell upon her face, but she made contact; finally having the ability to look him in the eyes. She saw no emotions upon his face, but what stroke to her attention was his arm as her eyes caught it from the side.
